Over the time we've spent in Tbilisi we've spent a lot of time investigating the best cafes in Tbilisi. And there are so many to choose from! From chain cafes with great baked goods (try Entreé, Coffeesta or Brotmeister) to hidden cafes in residential buildings. The coffee culture in Tbilisi is still developing but as far as ambience, interior design and digital nomad work spaces go, this city has is sorted. In an ode to the Tbilisi cafe scene I bring you a select list of some of the best cafes in Tbilisi that hopefully covers a variety of tastes and areas of the city.
Best coffee in Tbilisi – Coffee Lab
One of a kind in Tbilisi, this is the only place that roasts its own coffee. You can choose from a great range of coffee complimented by delicious, fresh food. The sleek design of the interior makes it a trendy place to hang out and there are numerous power points for people needing to get some work done. The café is set in a small park so there is also some peaceful outdoor seating available. If you’re a coffee lover, a trip to Coffee Lab can’t be missed!
Best Interior – Café Linville
The brightly decorated door is the only sign of what lies within this ordinary looking building in the old town. But when you walk up the crooked staircase you'll find a warm, funky cafe set in an old house. All the mismatched furniture and decorations create the feel of being in your (rich) grandmas living room and give a really cosy and fun vibe. There is also a gorgeous balcony surrounded by grape vines.
Best Vegetarian Food in Tbilisi– Mama Terra Veggie Corner
Best Hidden Secret - Cafe Otakhi
Despite the brightly coloured exterior of this gorgeous little cafe it remains hidden in a quiet residential street. It serves good coffee, juices and amazing chocolate muffins but the real draw card are the details of the design.
The entire place is made from re-purposed wood and painted in bright colours. There is only space for two tables inside but if you sit and drink you coffee in you'll notice all kinds of cute tiny details like the nut family with faces or the retro telephone.
Best place for Booklovers – Prospero’s Book Shop and Café
The bookshop has the best range of English books in Tbilisi and is set off the street in small courtyard. The café serves good food and drinks and is a good place to sit and work or relax with a book. The bookshop has modern fiction as well as books on Georgian history and culture and an excellent children’s section.

Best Brunch in Tbilisi – Fabrika
If you're a brunch lover then you can't miss the incredible buffet at Fabrika Cafe and hostel. The cafe offers a great space to chill and is one of the biggest hipster hangouts in town. They have a small but decent menu and a special brunch menu on weekends.
But the real deal is the buffet breakfast available each morning from 7 -11 am (12 on weekends) with an incredible range of all you can eat options for just 19 GEL. Everything is made fresh in the open kitchen from chocolate croissants to pancakes, omelettes and khachapuri. You can even book a room and roll out of bed to this fabulous breakfast every day. Check rooms and prices here.
Best Work Space - Café Memo
This hip little café is newly opened in Vake, a chic and cool neighbourhood ending at Vake Park. Café Memo offers a relaxed space with great coffee and some simple but delicious food options. They have a selection of books to read with your coffee and also have a piano in the cafe. Check out their facebook page for info on live music events!
Trendiest Café – Stamba Cafe
This is a newly opened establishment next to the well-known Rooms Hotel. The entire complex includes a hotel, casino, restaurant and cafe all housed in a old publishing house. The design and decor of the place are incredibly chic and stylish from the open kitchen to the jungle of pot plants all around the interior.
The same company also run the cafe at Rooms Hotel, Cafe Lolita across the road and the Fabrika hostel/cafe/art space so if you enjoy creative spaces there are plenty more options to explore. You can also check out their stylish rooms for a splash-out stay, check prices here.
Best Chain - Brotmeister
After a year away from Germany we were pretty happy to find a place selling a great range of German-style bread just around the corner from our apartment (the chain is actually Austrian). There are several of these cafes located around Tbilisi and they offer a great range of baked goods, sandwiches, salads and a delicious breakfast menu. The food is a little pricey but excellent quality and has lots of fresh ingredients and veg/vegan options.
